What is included in the price?

Included in the agreed scope are the independent review by at least 2 UX experts , the consolidation and prioritization of findings, specific action recommendations, a structured results report, as well as an approximately 30-minute final discussion .

How long does the exam take?

Upon receipt of all required documents, you will usually receive the result report within 4 business days . We will coordinate the exact schedule with you before the start of the project.

Which documents do you need?

Depending on the system, screenshots, videos, a clickable prototype, or access to the existing software may suffice. Additionally, we need basic information about the user groups, their tasks, and the usage context.

Do you need the hardware?

Not necessarily. We can evaluate a pure software interface based on screenshots, videos, prototypes, or system access. If physical controls and their interaction with the interface are to be tested, providing the hardware may be useful.

Can buttons, joysticks, and other controls also be assessed?

Yes. Upon request, we also consider physical input devices such as buttons, touchscreens, joysticks, or rotary controllers in addition to the digital interface. The exact scope of the test is determined in advance together.

What criteria is the evaluation based on?

Our evaluation model is based on the interaction principles of DIN EN ISO 9241-110 and the ergonomic principles for physical input devices of DIN EN ISO 9241-400 . Additionally, established usability heuristics and our experience from industrial development projects are incorporated. The review is not a certification or formal test for compliance with standards.

Does the HMI Expert Review replace a user test?

No. The Expert Review quickly identifies conceptual, ergonomic, and design weaknesses. How often and how severely individual problems occur in real everyday work is most reliably examined in a test with real users. If necessary, we combine both methods.

Are our information treated confidentially?

Yes. Your documents and system information are treated confidentially and used exclusively for the agreed project purpose. If necessary, we conclude a confidentiality agreement before providing the materials.

Does BUSSE also support the subsequent implementation?

Yes. You can implement the recommendations independently or commission BUSSE for further conception, design, and development. The subsequent implementation is not part of the HMI Expert Review and is offered separately.

Ten principles for a sound evaluation

Our evaluation model is based on the interaction principles of DIN EN ISO 9241-110 as well as on the ergonomic principles for physical input devices of DIN EN ISO 9241-400. Supplemented by established usability heuristics and our experience from industrial development projects, this results in a practical test catalog for the entire operating concept, from the user interface to buttons, touchscreens, joysticks, and other physical control elements.
