Protection against water damage
The protectliQ leakage protection helps to prevent water damage. The principle: The shut-off device is installed directly behind the water meter and connected to the mains supply. In addition, rechargeable batteries are installed which ensure that the water pipe is reliably closed in the event of a power failure. The leakage protection is coupled with mobile water sensors from the European market leader homematicIP. In the event of sudden wetness, the sensor emits an acoustic signal and sends a message to the protectliQ, which immediately stops the water supply. A red light signal on the device indicates that the water supply has been interrupted. For even more safety and information, the protectliQ can be linked to a softliQ water softener. Thanks to the cloud connection that is now in place, warning messages are sent to the Grünbeck myProduct app, providing reliable information even when nobody is at home.
As part of the new cliQlock modular system, the protectliQ can be quickly and easily integrated into the existing installation. In addition to this mechanical integration, we have adapted the design to the existing Grünbeck products without jeopardising individuality. The functional design of the device is an elegant, round housing with Grünbeck's typical green ring. The only button (but responsible for all important functions) is easily accessible in the centre of the lid - the connections are on the sides. The real highlight: there is a second maintenance level. This can be accessed without tools via the cover. There is a key for mechanical unlocking and maintenance access to the batteries. These attributes make the protectliQ a perfect addition to the product portfolio.
BUSSE Design+Engineering was able to support the Grünbeck team with both the product design and the design-for-manufacturing. This was done by designing and detailing the housings in CAD for production, through close cooperation between the design and development departments at Grünbeck and dialogue with suppliers from the BUSSE and Grünbeck network. This enabled the project to be realised together in a short time.
