HomeConnect App – Security as if by magic

The HomeConnect app from SIEGENIA is the ultimate solution for securing your home quickly and easily from anywhere in the world. This innovative app allows you to make your home secure using the new smart window handles. With the central locking system, you can lock all window handles and view their status with just one click. Intelligent security scenarios make it simple and straightforward to automate your home. BUSSE was able to contribute to this innovative new development in terms of the operating concept and design implementation, incorporating its expertise in usability and user experience.

The new smart window handle can not only be controlled via the SIEGENIA HomeConnect app; it is also Matter-compatible, meaning it can be integrated into many smart home systems that support the new Matter communication standard via Apple Home, Google Home or Samsung SmartThings. This allows everyone to enjoy a sense of security and convenience, controllable at will via the app or a voice assistant. This not only eliminates the security risk of keys getting stuck, but also the hassle of searching for keys. With its smart functions, windows can do more – from individual control to straightforward integration into smart home scenarios. And it is just as easy to install on standard wooden and plastic windows as a conventional window handle.

Matter simplifies compatibility and communication between devices from different manufacturers. Making smart homes as simple as possible for everyone: that is the idea behind Matter and SIEGENIA’s approach to developing smart products.

The BUSSE UI/UX Design Team supported SIEGENIA with a holistic, user-centred product development process for the app.

This involved identifying typical users, describing their main tasks and creating initial user interface concepts in the form of mock-ups. The functionality of the new user interface concept, including commissioning scenarios, was tested with end users in a usability test. Subsequently, the app was designed in both light and dark modes, and a library of the most important design components was created.

From patio doors that are used frequently during the day and only need to be securely locked in the evening, to children’s bedroom windows that are only opened under supervision. With the smart window handle, windows can be adapted with remarkable ease to suit individual needs. And it provides additional security when windows are locked:

Check at a glance via the app whether window handles are open or locked. Perfect for when children are playing unsupervised.
Lock all the window handles with just a tap of your finger. Handy when you’re already in bed.
Set up time profiles so that window handles are always unlocked. It’s reassuring to know that the window handle automatically locks itself.

With the smart window handle, you can rest easy even when you’re not at home. Knowing that all your windows are always fully protected:

Get a reminder to lock or unlock all handles with a single tap when leaving or entering the house. These are window handles that think for themselves.
Remote access
Even when you’re out and about, you can monitor and control the status of the window handles at any time using the remote function. Smart technology that gives you peace of mind.

The window handle can communicate with compatible smart home devices from other manufacturers. Using the app, you can create scenarios and tailor them to your own needs. For example, to save energy: the heating or air conditioning can be automatically turned down as soon as a window is opened.

In addition, the user-friendly setup and installation wizard provides step-by-step guidance during the initial setup.
