HAMMER Sport is a renowned German manufacturer of fitness equipment of all kinds, primarily for the home fitness sector. BUSSE and HAMMER have a long-standing tradition of co-operation, which began back in the 2000s with the design of the EXUM ergo bike. This was followed by many other projects and products (ergo bike VARON, rowing machine AQUON, etc...) which are still selling well today thanks to the high HAMMER quality. BUSSE has been a creative designer and source of ideas for HAMMER ever since. Overall equipment and even small detailed solutions are developed and designed together, so that the HAMMER Sport quality impression is visible down to the last detail. This is often not an easy task, as small changes or simplifications often appear as if by magic in the course of production, which must be avoided in order to bring the design style into the series part. This is the fine art of the ping-pong game between design, engineering and production, which BUSSE and HAMMER always practise productively.
Their latest joint developments are the AUTARK weight bench and Bench Pullup & Dip.
The sports-enthusiastic trainee developed a multifunctional device as part of his Product Design degree in 2017. The idea of combining a weight bench and a pull-up bar inspired Mr Markus Hammer so much that he immediately wanted to turn this idea into a series product. BUSSE took over the design and series construction and developed the idea into a finished product. The development of this innovative device presented us with the exciting challenge of designing various adjustment and folding mechanisms that are both stable and user-friendly. Our aim was to create a solution that would allow the user to convert the device and use it safely in just a few simple steps. Through careful planning and precise implementation, we have developed mechanisms that are not only functional but also intuitive to use. This makes switching between the various utilisation options child's play and ensures maximum flexibility and safety.
By setting up and pulling out various elements, the fully functional bench expands into a multifunctional piece of equipment that can also be used for pull-ups, dips and much more. After training, everything is stowed away again to save space and can then also be used as seating furniture. It is now on the market and exceeds all expectations in terms of functionality and training options.
The former trainee is now a permanent member of the BUSSE team as a product designer.
