Our customer Haas Schleifmaschinen not only presented the new Multigrind® Styx simulation software at this year's EMO, but a newly developed icon concept is now also being used in the software solutions from Haas Schleifmaschinen. We are delighted to have been able to support them again and would like to thank them for their many years of cooperation.
Previously, the existing Multigrind® Horizon I software was used without the use of icons. In order to improve the usability and intuitive use of the software, self-explanatory icons for typical process steps were created for a better understanding of individual work steps.
The aim here was to check what the minimum display size of an individual icon could be so that it would still be recognizable, and what the largest display size could be without obscuring the content of the processes. As the icons are not only used for the Multigrind® Horizon I software but also for the Multigrind® Styx simulation, the biggest challenge was to find a design style that works for both software versions and still looks modern - in line with the new Haas Schleifmaschinen corporate design. We made sure that the icons would have a square basic shape in the overall effect for universal use. Another requirement was that the icons should represent the highly technical processing steps of grinding in the simplest possible way and not appear too technical, which is why we opted for a monochrome design based on simple surfaces and lines.

Our head designer Michael Tinius on the special features of the grinding machine: "We attached importance to straight surfaces and lines, to a monolithic appearance that conveys precision with its aesthetics and thus corresponds to the character of the machine. Without product cosmetics, we use the exterior to draw attention to the inner values."
