There is room for an ornamental or kitchen garden everywhere: on the terrace, on the garage wall or house facade, and even in the open-plan office. For JUWEL, BUSSE has designed a new system of plant trays that convinces as a "vertical garden" by its extraordinary flexibility and sophisticated function.

The idea of a vertical garden with a continuous earth space from the top to the bottom shell originated at JUWEL. Design and construction were carried out by BUSSE as a proven partner. BUSSE found a creative and visually appealing solution for the specified vertical arrangement of the plant bowls: The bowls are placed at an angle and at the same time interlocked, resulting in a rhythmic arrangement that creates an accent, especially in larger areas. Because the trays do not overlap in parallel, the plants receive more light and can develop better.

Waterproof back wall and suspended trays act as a unit due to their special geometry. The modular system allows horizontal as well as vertical arrangement for a flexible "green" wall design. The arrangement "back to back" is also possible, so that the vertical garden can also be used as a room divider, for example in offices.

Numerous detailed solutions from BUSSE ensure optimal function of the irrigation and easy handling. The continuous soil space from the top to the bottom allows for uniform and easy

irrigation. Excess irrigation water collects at the bottom in a removable drip cup; a grid in the lowest plant tray prevents the water from becoming contaminated with soil. BUSSE's design and construction services for JUWEL also included the CAD construction of complex geometries, the design of technical principles, and the technology for fastening and hanging the plant trays.

For the product idea, design and function of the Vertical Garden, JUWEL received the coveted reddot award 2014 as well as the pro-K award 2014, which honors the best plastic product of the year. The company, based in Imst/Tyrol, specializes in products for the garden and household - from rotary clothes dryers, gardening bricks, cold frames to composters.
