Our customer NEUTRIK AG introduced the redesigned DRAGONFLY by BUSSE Design+Engineering within the opticalCON family at NAB in Las Vegas in April 2019. The new DRAGONFLY series incorporates state-of-the-art and patented XB2 lens technology for demanding broadcast and AV applications.
With DRAGONFLY, NEUTRIK offers robust, very low-maintenance hybrid data/power supply for cameras that is superior to comparable signal transmission systems. We are pleased that we could win NEUTRIK AG as a new customer and that you trusted us to support them in this exciting project.
Part of the task for BUSSE Design+Engineering was to develop a design language that could also be transferred to future developments in order to create a strong brand imprint for NEUTRIK AG. For this reason, the first concept sketches already examined the extent to which the respective design features could also be transferred to other plugs and products of NEUTRIK AG, so that a consistent product family of NEUTRIK products could be created.
The striking design language created by BUSSE Design+Engineering is intended to visibly convey the precision of the internal components to the outside world, while still exuding robustness and durability even in the toughest of applications.
Neutrik's opticalCON DRAGONFLY series represents another innovation in fiber optics for broadcast and AV applications. The robust and low-maintenance hybrid SMPTE camera connector for indoor and outdoor applications perfectly covers the future needs of users of fiber optics for 4K and 8K signals.
As the latest addition to the well-known opticalCON fiber product family, the new DRAGONFLY series incorporates state-of-the-art and patented XB2 lens technology for demanding broadcast and AV applications. With DRAGONFLY, Neutrik offers robust, very low-maintenance hybrid data/power supply for cameras that is superior to comparable signal transmission systems.
Using XB2 technology based on fiber optic lensing and fusion splicing, opticalCON DRAGONFLY transmits an extremely robust signal with minimal attenuation loss and is ideal for demanding UHD, 4K and 8K transmissions. The signal surface of the XB2 lens is 322 times larger than physical contact surfaces and is therefore less sensitive to dust and dirt. This results in very low maintenance with low cost. Cleaning is fast and efficient with compressed air and water.
opticalCON DRAGONFLY also easily withstands mechanical stress and vibrations and ensures reliable operation.
DRAGONFLY from Neutrik redefines simplicity and efficiency. Its hybrid design transmits power and data over a single connection. Compatibility with standardized mounting dimensions makes it easy to switch to DRAGONFLY. With its reliable push-pull locking mechanism, IP68 protection rating when mated, proven bend protection design and 10,000 mating cycle life, opticalCON DRAGONFLY is the perfect solution for demanding broadcast and AV applications.
