RATIONAL - SelfCookingCenter XS wins the German Design Award 2018

Awarded: The SelfCookingCenter® XS at the German Design Award 2018

The smallest member of the RATIONAL family has shown them all: The SelfCookingCenter® XS is the winner of the German Design Award 2018 in the "Kitchen" category. The high-caliber, international jury was impressed by the innovative strength of the combi steamer and awarded the prize to RATIONAL AG in Landsberg am Lech.

Professional chefs have been reporting on its outstanding inner values for some time now. Now the SelfCookingCenter® XS also scores with its external values. The powerful little one impressed the 43-member international jury of design experts. "With the SelfCookingCenter® XS, we have succeeded in creating a significantly smaller version of its big brother - with the same performance and efficiency. An extraordinary design achievement that expands the possibilities in kitchen planning," reads the jury's statement. For Peter Wiedemann, Chief Technology Officer at RATIONAL AG, this is a great recognition: "We've won awards for our high production standards before, but this is the first time for our design. The award also reflects the good support of Busse Design."

With external dimensions of 55.5 cm in depth and 65.5 cm in width, the SelfCookingCenter® XS may be the smallest appliance in the RATIONAL family, but it is in no way inferior to the SelfCookingCenter® series in terms of performance, intelligence and efficiency. And if the external appearance is also right, it's made for use in front cooking.

The German Design Award is presented annually by the German Design Council, a foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany, and honors innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers. After a rigorous pre-selection among almost 2,000 entries, the SelfCookingCenter® XS was nominated and ultimately rewarded with the "Winner" award in the "Kitchen" category. The official award ceremony will take place on February 09, 2018 in Frankfurt/Main. Parallel to this, the German Design Council is organizing an exhibition with the award-winning products, and the award winners will also be presented in a catalog and in an app.

For the SelfCookingCenter® XS, both the product design and the interface design were carried out by BUSSE. The concept was finally tested through model building and prototyping.
