Mikron Machining once again improves the Mikron Multistar CX-24 with more flexibility and a smaller footprint. The presentation of the new machine took place at AMB-2018 in Stuttgart, Hall 4, Booth C71.

Precise, fast, versatile and flexible: This is how the Mikron Multistar CX-24 transfer rotary transfer machines have been impressing customers for more than twenty years. With series sizes in the millions in some cases, they produce both simple and complex turned and milled parts completely finished in a single clamping. In the process, up to 44 machining operations run simultaneously on 24 stations. The 24 parts clamped on the rotating table are machined simultaneously from above, below and laterally. Depending on the machining operation, the parts are clamped in fixed or rotating collets. Measurement of the parts during production shortens the cycle time. In addition, cycle time-determining machining operations can be divided among several stations.

To date, some 700 units of the machine have proven themselves in daily practical use worldwide. This experience has led to a remarkable redesign that offers outstanding advantages in many areas. The machine has become more compact because hydraulic units, chip conveyor and oil mist separator are now integrated. As a result, the machine requires up to 25% less floor space, depending on the configuration. This solves space problems in some places. Ergonomics and accessibility of the machining center have also been greatly improved. For particularly demanding operations, Mikron recommends a hybrid version with up to 20 CNC axes.

The new machine has a Bosch-Rexroth control for the interpolated axes and the machine table with SS1 and SLS functions (Safe Stop 1 / Safety-limited-Speed). A Siemens inverter with SLS and STO (Safe torque off) functions for the sensorless spindles ensures that no energy is applied to the spindle and no unwanted starts occur. The control panel pivots around the machining center, which is clad with large viewing windows, with a rotating gallows design. A vertical side colored light band provides information about the machine's operating status that is visible from afar.

As with the machine design of the Mikron 6x6, great importance was attached to emphasizing the brand values of competence, performance, precision and quality in the primary design statement of the Mikron Multistar CX-24. The actual "star" of the machine is the cab. It is visually held and brought into focus by the so-called C-frame. At the same time, the C-frame forms the binding element between the booth and the control cabinets. Thus, the Mikron Multistar CX-24 fits seamlessly into the new appearance of the Mikron brand with its tidy effect.

We congratulate our customer Mikron on this successful machine and look forward to further exciting projects.
