On 12.09.2023, BUSSE Design+Engineering held an extensive day on the subject of occupational health and safety.
After the routine instruction on safety in production, at the machines and computer workstations and the regular meeting and inspection of the occupational safety committee, a realistic fire drill took place shortly before midday. Reporting chains, the correct alerting of the fire department, escape and rescue routes and personnel checks at the assembly point were tested in practice - this is an additional challenge, especially in times of flex office and office presence of various employees.
The processes and fire safety measures in the company were reviewed and updated in advance: For example, in addition to the prescribed fire extinguishers, aluminum boxes and SafeBags for burning batteries/laptops have been positioned in the individual departments since the beginning of the year and an automatic time control has been installed for the stove in the canteen, for example, because the cause of a fire is increasingly also coming from such devices that cannot be classically fought with a fire extinguisher.
The correct use of fire extinguishers was then trained in individual groups in the afternoon in order to be able to effectively fight fires in the event of an emergency.
We have now also installed a defibrillator in the company so that we can provide even faster and more effective first aid in medical emergencies.
All in all, it was an exciting and active day that definitely helped us to apply the otherwise theoretical safety instruction - which is often followed with the same attention as the safety instructions on the plane - in practice and internalize it so effectively. Many thanks for the organization and the active participation!
