Our customer COHERENT Munich presented the new EasyMark/EasyJewel at the Vicenzaoro T.Gold in January 2018, which was already designed according to the new design proposed by BUSSE Design+Engineering. This was then followed by the ExactCut series with the ExactCut 430 and the ExactWeld 230. We are pleased to have been able to support them again and thank them for their many years of cooperation.

COHERENT Munich's previous devices were strongly influenced in form by the technical requirements and the manufacturing process. In the course of the new Exact system family, COHERENT Munich wanted to develop its own design language and introduce it simultaneously over several developments.

BUSSE Design+Engineering created a new machine design to be applied to all new products. In close cooperation with COHERENT Munich, a timeless design language was implemented, characterized by clear lines and soft radii.

The great challenge in the design development was to find a design across the various manufacturing processes of the various devices and housing parts that contains striking formal elements that can be reproduced as sheet metal housings, TSG foam parts and injection molded parts without driving up manufacturing costs.

Ergonomics that enable fatigue-free work on the devices was also important, especially in view of the worldwide distribution channels and the wide variety of occupational health and safety regulations and anthropometric measurements in the respective countries.

BUSSE Design+Engineering took part in the development round from the very beginning of the projects and was allowed to support the entire process, from the first concept sketch to various model construction works, CAD data, detailing and the start of series production. In lively discussions with the participating faculties of design, marketing, construction and manufacturing, a creative path was taken and a modern design with a striking formal language was developed.

EasyMark

The new COHERENT EasyMark series is one of the most compact and versatile desktop laser marking systems on the market. Available in a variety of configurations, it can be easily adapted to a wide range of individual applications and different materials. The EasyMark combines marking and engraving with unmatched quality and consistency with low maintenance and service costs. In addition, the laser system cuts sheets up to 1.2 mm thick with high accuracy and perfect edge quality. The initial concept sketches are still based on the company colors before ROFIN's merger with COHERENT.

ExactCut Series

The ExactCut is a compact precision cutting laser system for processing thin and thick metals and aluminum materials as well as brittle materials such as sapphire stones, diamonds and ceramics. It is a ready-to-use machine for demanding manufacturing applications in the medical, electronics, automotive and watchmaking industries. The ExactCut is not only suitable for high-volume series production, but also offers a high degree of flexibility for individual one-offs and small batches.

The striking radii, soft corner radii and darkly contrasted working areas of the first concept visuals were consistently adopted in series production, without the design conciseness being toned down for technical production reasons.
