A baby carriage with just two wheels that is pulled, rides safely on any terrain and goes by the name of Crossbuggy: BUSSE worked with its inventors to bring this unusual vehicle to production and market maturity.

The principle actually comes from the four-wheeled handcart, which is pulled by a drawbar and stays on track even off the beaten track thanks to its low center of gravity. The drawbar has remained, but the new off-road baby carriage called the Crossbuggy only has two wheels, making it all the more maneuverable. The idea comes from sports enthusiast Tanja Ripperger from Wollerau on Lake Zurich in Switzerland, who wants to leave the beaten track with her young company YippieYo AG - in every respect.

Her vision is to take children out into the countryside, through fields and forests or to the beach - but which baby carriage can do that? In future, this gap will be filled by the all-terrain cross buggy, which offers space for two children and can be reduced to trunk size in just a few simple steps. In the YippieYo cross buggy, the children sit side by side on a fully sprung axle and are pulled on large wheels. As a result, the buggy does not get stuck in deep sand or roots like a conventional sports buggy for pushing.

"The guiding idea for the design of this product is a completely new interpretation of familiar vehicle characteristics such as stability, safety, maneuverability, dynamics and styling,"

explains Michael Tinius, Head Designer at BUSSE. "Unlike conventional baby carriages, handcarts or bicycle trailers, the Crossbuggy retains all its driving characteristics even on difficult terrain."

One challenge on the way to production maturity was the complex frame construction made of aluminum tubes, which requires a special bending technique with its radii. BUSSE's design and frame construction are patented.

The Crossbuggy is assembled by disabled people in the workshops of Lebenshilfe Donau-Iller in Senden and Blaustein; all components come from European brand manufacturers and are free from harmful substances.
